Increasing accessibility to music education around the world.

Our mission

Various studies have shown that music education can support brain development, cognitive function, and social and emotional skills. Statistics have proven that music education is correlated to better academic performance, increased graduation rates, and greater emotional intelligence, showing that music has a significant impact on children’s development and future success.

However, about 4 million children in the US do not have access to music education, and the number increases as we focus on more countries across the globe. This is due to the unfortunate inherent classist nature of classical music that has developed alongside it since the start. The cost of music lessons and musical instruments makes it challenging for so many children to learn how to play an instrument like the violin.

This is why we founded a project called Music Everywhere, a fundraising initiative aimed at providing instruments and resources to underprivileged schools worldwide. This summer, we are starting our project by going to Guatemala City, where we will visit music schools and connect with the community. We will donate violins to the schools, give many lessons, and perform for the city’s residents. Next summer, we plan to continue this program for students in Ecuador.

What we do

Music Everywhere aims to raise funds for the musical pursuits of underprivileged children worldwide. Additionally, our program aims to make a direct community impact through various trips and service projects in our target cities.

Meet the Founders

  • Saiya Mittal grew up in New York City, where she began playing violin at an early age. After moving to Florida, she continued practicing and falling in love with the instrument, which has helped shape her life in so many ways. Besides bringing her countless hours of enjoyment and providing a valuable means of self-expression, violin has given Saiya some of her most memorable achievements. Since the 8th grade, Saiya has been a volunteer teacher for beginner violin students, and more recently, she has been giving free performances at nursing homes in South Florida. In April, she performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall with the New York Chamber Players. After noticing the barriers to entry for underprivileged students who may want to learn violin, she decided to launch Music Everywhere to spread her passion for music to children worldwide. Outside of violin, Saiya enjoys going to museums, baking, and listening to the latest Taylor Swift album.

  • Aayan Mittal was born in New York City, where he first found his love for playing violin as a young child. In his early teenage years, he moved to Florida, where he continued to learn and play violin, helping him to release emotions and stress in a healthy way. Violin has, apart from being a massive contributor to shaping the person he is today, offered him many opportunities to showcase his talents outside of his personal life. He has entered and placed in various competitions over the years, and has had many wonderful experiences such as performing a solo movement of the Vivaldi Four Seasons concerto with the American Chamber Orchestra at Merkin Hall in New York in early 2023. Because of his emotional connection for the violin and thankfulness for the various opportunities it has offered him, he was motivated to found Music Everywhere alongside his sister to foster excitement and passion for music to other children who may be able to benefit from musical experience across the world. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to various genres of music, golfing, and playing video games.

Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.”
